Islamabad – In a ceremony held on Saturday, retiring naval chief Admiral Zakaullah transferred the command of the naval forces to Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi.
Admiral Abbasi was passed the baton of command at Naval’s headquarter Islamabad, where the ceremony took place with the Naval chief, Admiral Zakaullah congratulating the upcoming naval chief for assuming command.
Admiral (rtd) Zakaullah said: “He is very proud to lead the courageous officers of Pak Navy, but Pakistan faces a lot of complex and innumerable regional challenges. I believe it is important to maintain the regional balance of power and that we as a nation has all the capabilities in the world to defend our country.”
Admiral (rtd) Zakaullah also mentioned that Pakistan has signed a free-gate contract with China, which will be prepared at Karachi shipyard all thanks to China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) he added, “Bringing peace and prosperity to Pakistan for which the Pak Navy is playing its role in providing all the security it requires,”
Pakistan Navy will be receiving Sea king helicopters from UK in this year, and a submarine contract is also under the process, Admiral (rtd) Zakaullah informed the media.
