Nawaz records statement in Al-Azizia reference hearing

ISLAMABAD: The accountability court (AC) on Wednesday resumed the hearing of Al-Azizia corruption case against the former preimer Nawaz Sharif and his family.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifetime supremo recorded his statement during the hearing.

Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik asked Nawaz if it was correct that he had held public offices when he was summoned to rostrum.
The former premier replied by saying that it was indeed correct as he had been the PM of the country three times, chief minister (CM) , finance and opposition leader. Moreover, he added that he did not hold any public office from 1999 to 2013, and was in exile from 2000 to 2007.
However, Nawaz lawyer raised some objection to questions which were listed during the hearing.

On October 30, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor Wasiq Malik had told Judge Malik that they had completed presenting its evidence against the accused in the case. He further told the court that a total of 22 witnesses appeared before the accountability court after Nawaz’s involvement in the Al-Azizia reference.
The accountability court has until November 17 to finish the remaining two corruption references against Sharif family.
