LAHORE: The action taken by the Punjab government against a mobile network-based cab service was reversed by the Lahore High Court on Friday. The LHC has stopped the Punjab Transport Authority and others from taking any action against the cab company.
Justice Shahid Waheed passed the order on a petition filed by A-One Cab Service challenging a notification of the transport authority issued on Jan 27.
Through his petitioner, A-One Cab Service Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Rafiq Shahzad asserted that they were providing services according to international rules and over 800 people used their service daily.
The petitioner said that on asking about the regulation of cab service, his request was refused saying that there were no specific laws. He said that instead of making required legislation, the respondent authority had issued a letter for legal action declaring his car service illegal.
Shahzad requested the court to take back the action and asked the court that no action be taken against the service.
The judge issued notices to the transport authority and chief traffic officer and restrained them from taking any coercive measure against the petitioner’s company.
