KOHAT: A hardcore terrorist, involved in heinous offences – including attack on Bannu Jail, has been executed at the district jail Kohat on Thursday.
The convict was tried by the military court.
According to ISPR, convict Tahir, s/o Mir Shah Jehan, was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking/breaking of Bannu Jail, owing to which a number of terrorists managed to escape.
He was also involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies, which resulted in death of a soldier. He admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court and was awarded a death sentence.
On April 16 2012, a group of over 100 militants stormed into Bannu jail, in what was being said the biggest prison-break in Pakistan’s history, and freed 384 prisoners in an overnight attack.
