A Pakistan Air Force jet crashed in northeastern Punjab province on Friday during a training mission, an official statement said.
“A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Mirage aircraft, on a routine operational training mission, crashed near Shorkot [in Punjab province] today [Friday]. The pilot ejected safely and no loss of life or property has been reported on the ground,” the PAF said in a statement.
There was no immediate cause cited for the crash.
A board of inquiry was ordered by the air headquarters to determine the cause of the accident, said the statement. Last month, two PAF pilots were martyred after a training aircraft crashed near M M Alam base in Mianwali.
“Both pilots, Squadron Leader Haris bin Khalid and Flying Officer Ibaadur Rehman, embraced shahadat,” the spokesperson said.
